WAA-Certified

What is WAA Certification

The WAA certification system applies to WLAN products, including smart terminals, network infrastructure and consumer electronic products. It comprehensively evaluates the performance of WLAN products using the six major dimensions of evaluation for network quality experience - bandwidth, latency, roaming, connection, security, and operation & maintenance. Compared with traditional technical indicators, the WAA certification focuses more on user experience, making up for the shortcomings in previous scenario experience and performance certification. It provides important guidance for equipment manufacturers and operators, reflects the people-oriented concept of science and technology, and emphasizes that the ultimate goal of scientific and technological development is to serve humanity’s productivity, lifestyle, and societal advancement.
The WAA certification system is an important benchmark for the current development of the WLAN industry, and will become a benchmark for the development of the industry in the future, leading technological progress and industry standards.

  • What is the product certification range of the WAA certification?
The product range of the WAA certification includes WLAN products based on campus offices, home, and industrial scenarios, including but not limited to WLAN access products: AP (Access Point).
  • WLAN access products: AP (Access Point).
What is the difference between WAA certification and WFA certification?
WAA certification: Primarily focuses on the performance standards and user experiences of WLAN, so as to solve the problem of unsatisfied performance in practical applications, especially in aspects such as latency, reliability and anti-interference. The WAA is dedicated to establishing scenario-based WLAN performance standards and certification system to optimize user connectivity and application experiences.
WFA certification: It focuses on the compatibility and interoperability of Wi-Fi products to ensure seamless connections between different brands and devices. The WFA uses a certification procedure to verify whether devices meet Wi-Fi standards, ensuring that users have a consistent experience across different devices.
  • What are the steps to apply for certification?
    1. The applicant registers as a WAA member.
    2. After the membership application is approved, the applicant submits a certification application through the WAA online or offline, selects a certification agency and testing laboratory, then submits materials and documents required for the certification application.
    3. The WAA then assigns a work order regarding the certification requirement to the chosen certification agency. The certification agency reviews the certification materials and assigns testing tasks to the chosen testing agency.
    4. The applicant provides the designated testing laboratory with test samples to carry out tests.
    5. Upon completion, the testing laboratory submits the test data to the WAA for review.
    6. The certification agency conducts a comprehensive assessment based on the test results and certification materials (Manufacturer Quality Assurance Capability) provided by the WAA.
    7. The certification agency issues the certificate on the WAA official website after reviewing the test data and confirming the data is correct.
    8. The applicant can download the certificate and certification logo from the WAA official website as needed.
    9. The applicant initiates the payment process in accordance with the WAA rules.
    10. Post-certification supervision process.
  • What does the series model mean in the application?
The product has multiple models, differing only in silkscreen printings and colors of the casing.
  • Do I need to provide the quality system document mentioned in the Manufacturer Quality Assurance Capability Self-evaluation checklist?
Yes, you can use your manufacturer ISO9001 certificate as proof that you meet these requirements.
  • What do other product certifications refer to?
We prefer certifications from major domestic institutions, such as a CQC certification. Certifications from other major institutions are also acceptable. If there is no domestic certification, you can provide certificates like a CE or a NRTL. The certificate type must be a safety certificate.
